The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department of the University Hospital of Martinique (UHM, CHU de Martinique) is dedicated to both diagnosis and treatment of all Digestive, Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases in adults living in the Caribbean.
- The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department is offering a large range of activites
- It is working all the week from Monday 7 A.M to Friday 6 P.M
- Services include programmed admissions for Endoscopy Procedures, Biotherapy-drug perfusions, Antiviral-treatment initiation for Hepatitis Cas well as urgent admission due to acute digestive disorders, non-life-threatening digestive bleedings, Inflammatory Bowel Disease flares, cirrhosis decompensation
- In addition, there is a dedicated 24/7 service for any urgent gastrointestinal bleeding
- The diagnostic Endoscopy Unit is performing conventional investigations:
- Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy and Capsule Endoscopy Procedures

- The Interventional Endoscopy Unit is used to manage severe patients requiring high skill procedures:
- Stricture dilation, Enteral stenting
- ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)

- Specialized Digestive motility investigations are also performed whenever indicated:
- Oesophageal manometry test, pH-metry test and Anorectal Manometry test
